District ID
The district ID is a new feature that enables The Lightspan Network to be personalized for every user with a unique user name and password. You may not have received a district ID at this time. If you have not been assigned a district ID, leave the District ID log-in entry box empty.

How do I know if I need a district ID?
If you received a new user name and password for The Lightspan Network after September 14, 2001, you most likely need a district ID. If you received your user name and password prior to this date, you do not need a district ID and should continue logging in without one until your Lightspan network coordinator provides you with a new user name, password, and district ID.

Why is the district ID filled in for me?
Your district ID is automatically stored on your computer so that you do not need to retype it every time you login to The Lightspan Network.

I don't use a district ID to login, but there is one filled in for me. What should I do?
If the district ID is correct for your district, you can leave the district ID filled in. Just continue logging in by entering your user name and password and clicking Go. If you know the district ID is incorrect or if you are unsure, login by entering your user name and password and replace the incorrect district ID with your own.

My district ID is no longer filled in for me. Where did it go?
Your district ID is automatically stored on your computer so that you do not need to retype it every time you login to The Lightspan Network. If you changed your Web browser, or if someone else logged in without a district ID, your district ID may no longer be stored on your computer. You will need to login again using your own district ID in order to have it stored on your computer.

The displayed district ID is not mine. Where did it come from?
Your district ID is automatically stored on your computer so that you do not need to retype it every time you login to The Lightspan Network. If someone else logged in using a different district ID, that district ID was stored on your computer. You will need to login again using your own district ID in order to have it stored on your computer.

What do I do if I have forgotten my district ID or did not receive one with my new user name and password?
If you have forgotten your district ID or did not receive one (after September 14, 2001), please contact
  • your teacher
  • your school
  • your site administrator

Technical Issues
If you are still having difficulty logging in to The Lightspan Network, you may have a computer configuration problem.

  • We recommend using Microsoft Internet Explorer (Version 5.0 or later) or Netscape Navigator (Version 4.77). You may download these browsers from either company's Web site. Note that The Lightspan Network does not support versions of Netscape higher than 4.77.

  • Make sure your browser is configured to accept "cookies." For more information on cookies, refer to the Help section of your browser.

  • Lightspan processes your account number and password through a secure form on your browser. The form uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Protocol to encrypt the data and communicate with our server over the Internet. SSL support is included in all the Web browsers supported by The Lightspan Network; however, it is possible that your network may be configured in a way that blocks the SSL Protocol. In this case, the technology person responsible for your network configuration should contact Lightspan Customer Support at (800) 811-9443, from 4:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific time, or contactus@lightspan.com.
